Industrial Sites: After the earthquake….

 In Uncategorized

Seismic controllers, switches, triggers and monitors come in various designs and are deployed in a variety of configurations specific to each Owner’s application.

Following a major earthquake resulting in the automatic shutdown of the Owner’s processes, it is the Owner’s responsibility to ensure that those processes remain in a safe shutdown state independent of subsequent power loss (i.e. discharged batteries) or power cycling (i.e. re-boot) of the earthquake instrumentation

The earthquake device should not be relied upon for extended shutdown requirements.  Rather, manual valves, switches, breakers, etc. should be employed following the automated shutdown to preclude material flow during plant recovery.

Using manual valves for longer term flow control.
